To speak with God we start where we are

As we approach the concept of speaking in partnership with God, we have to recall that we live in a personal universe. Everything around us is held together by personal acts of God. For example, Jesus spoke to the waves of the sea. Now, if you don't understand that the waves of the sea are held together in the personal word of God, you might be puzzled about why the waves would obey his voice. Do you understand what I am getting at? You see, that is why many, many people have trouble with prayer—because they think of what they are praying about as having no essential connection to God, at least none that makes any sense to them.

So we come now to look at this matter of our personal interaction with God with the purpose of redeeming our time and place in history. Ephesians 5:16 talks about "redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (kjv). Well, how are you going to redeem the time? What method do you have in mind? And the answer is by interacting with God where you are.
