Faith is a learning process, and grows as we go

[I]t is also important to understand that in practice we will have to learn to lead an ordered life centered on those four things: humility, pursuit of inward transformation, constant receptivity to the "Presence," and unqualified obedience to Jesus. There is some latitude for cultural variations and individual peculiarities in the learning process, but that process is unavoidable and must be embraced. We have to learn to do the things that eliminate distractions and keep our whole being focused upon constant companionship with Christ in our "nows." In this way the life of a disciple of Jesus—of his student or apprentice in kingdom living—takes its individualized shape. And to come to him in faith is to enroll as his disciple. It is constantly to go to school under his tutelage. Anything less than that simply misses him and reveals we do not actually have faith in him. But as disciples our faith grows as our knowledge grows. There are some time-tested spiritual practices that can help us in our learning process.
