We Need a Morality based in Reality Our society will come no closer to being able to distinguish right from wrong if our morality is founded strictly on theory and not reality. For moral principles to be effective, they must be based in the real world and connect to our daily lives and relationships. If our morals are merely social constructions and ethical theories that are never firmly attached to real-life events, then such theories will never be able to sustain the authority required to change behavior.
